About Image Scanner

Scan documents with the camera you already have

WriteDroid Image Scanner turns a photo of a page into a clean, flat scan. It works on phones, tablets and computers, and it never uploads your pictures, so receipts, forms and IDs stay on your device.

What you can do

  • Crop with precision. Drag the corner and edge handles, with a zoom bubble that shows exactly where you are, or let auto detect find the page for you.
  • Clean it up. Choose Magic color, Black and white or Grayscale, and adjust brightness and contrast to lift shadows and sharpen text.
  • Build one PDF. Add as many pages as you like, reorder them and save a single multi page A4 PDF, or export a page as JPG or PNG.

For the best scan

Place the page on a flat, plain surface in even light and hold the camera directly above it. Avoid casting your own shadow across the paper. If the edges are hard to see, use a darker table behind a white page.

How to use Image Scanner

  1. Take a photo or choose images of your pages.
  2. Drag the corner and edge dots to fit the page, or press Auto detect, then tap Apply.
  3. Pick a look such as Magic color or Black and white, then save a PDF, JPG or PNG.

Frequently asked questions

Is the WriteDroid image scanner free?
Yes. Scanning, cropping, filters and PDF, JPG and PNG saving are free, with no sign-up and no watermark.
Are my photos uploaded anywhere?
No. Every photo is processed in your browser on your own device and is never uploaded.
Can I scan more than one page into a single PDF?
Yes. Add as many pages as you like, then press Save PDF to get one multi page A4 PDF in the order shown.
How do I get a clean, straight scan?
Photograph the page on a flat, plain surface in good light. The scanner finds the page edges for you, and you can drag the corner and edge dots, with a zoom bubble, to fine tune the crop before choosing a look such as Magic color or Black and white.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. On a phone, Take photo opens the camera and Choose images opens your gallery. It also works on tablets and computers.
